A pathway for the biogenesis of trans-acting siRNAs in Arabidopsis

Article Abstract:

Genetic analysis is used to define the pathway by which trans-acting siRNAs and other short siRNAs are generated from the loci in Arabidopsis. Results define the core components of a post-transcriptional gene-silencing pathway in Arabidopsis and reveal some of the features that direct transcripts to this pathway.

Transcription switches for protoxylem and metaxylem vessel formation

Article Abstract:

Vascular-related NAC-Domain6 (VND6) and VND7 can induce transdifferentiation of various cells into metaxylem- and protoxylem-like vessel elements respectively in Arabidopsis and poplar. These findings suggest that the genes VND6 and VND7 are transcription switches for plant metaxylem and protoxylem formation.

Auxin biosynthesis by the YUCCA flavin monooxygenases controls the formation of floral organs and vascular tissues in Arabidopsis

Article Abstract:

The YUCCA (YUC) gene family is defined and four of the unequivocally of the 11 predicted YUC flavin monooxygenases, which play essential roles in auxin biosynthesis and plant development is shown. The YUC genes are mainly expressed in meristems, young primordia, vascular tissues, and reproductive organs.
