PAT1, a new member of the GRAS family, is involved in phytochrome A signal transduction

Article Abstract:

A new member of the GRAS protein family, PAT1, has a role in phytochrome A (phy A) signal transduction. PAT1 acts in a dominant negative way to inhibit phyA signaling. A new Arabidopsis mutant, phytochrome A signal tranduction (pat)1-1, which shows greatly reduced responses in continuous far-red (FR) light, was identified. It is disrupted early in phyA signal transduction.

A plastidic ABC protein involved in intercompartmental communication of light signaling

Article Abstract:

A new Arabidopsis mutant, laf (long after far red (FR))6, has been identified. It has lowered responsiveness preferentially toward continuous FR light. ABC proteins may have a role in transport. Observations suggest that functional ATP-binding-cassette (atABC1) is necessary for transport and proper distribution of protoporphyrin IX. This porphyrin may function as a light-specific signaling factor with a role in coordinating plastid-nucleus intercompartmental communication.

LAF1, a MYB transcription activator for phytochrome A signaling

Article Abstract:

Study results suggest that Long After Far-red Light 1 (LAF1) is specifically involved in phyA signal transduction. Long After Far-red Light 1 is a new Arabidopsis mutant with an elongated hypocotyl under far-red light. LAF1 is constitutively target to the nucleus by signals of its N-terminal part. The full-length protein accumulates in distinct nuclear speckles.
