Activation of the CheA kinase by asparagine in Bacillus subtillis chemotaxis

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the Bacillus subtilis to determine how its chemotaxis is affected by asparagine. Results have shown that membranes containing CheA and methyl-accepting chemotaxis protein double the rate of CheY-P formation in the presence of asparagine. Moreover, several chemotaxis proteins affect the regulation of CheA activity whether or not an attractant is present when membranes from a number of Bacillus subtilis null mutant strains were used.

A receptor-modifying deamidase in complex with a signaling phosphatase reveals reciprocal regulation

Article Abstract:

The structure of a complex between the signal terminating phosphatase, CheC, and the receptor-modifying deamidase, CheD, is discussed. CheC inhibits CheD by mimicking receptor substrates and CheC phosphatase activity is stimulated by CheD.
