Effects of minerals on resistance of Bacillus subtilis spores to heat and hydrostatic pressure

Article Abstract:

Results show that Bacillus subtilis IFO13722 spores exhibit resistance to hydrostatic pressure, which is associated with the mineral composition of the spores. Data indicate that while demineralization of the spores increase hydrostatic pressure resistance, remineralization with calcium or magnesium decreases it. However, remineralization with manganese or potassium does not lead to pressure resistance decrease.

New integrative method to generate bacillus subtilis recombinant strains free of selection markers

Article Abstract:

A novel method is described, which combines the use of blaI, that encodes a repressor involved in Bacillus licheniformis BlaP beta-lactamase regulation, an antibiotic resistance gene and B. subtilis strain that is conditionally auxotrophic for lysine. This strategy is used to inactivate a single gene and to introduce a gene of interest in the Bacillus chromosome.

Subtilosin production by two Bacillus subtilis subspecies and variance of the sbo-alb cluster

Article Abstract:

The subtilosin production of eight different Bacillus subtilis wild-type strains and Bacillus atrophaeus and the genetic variation in the sbo-alb cluster and Bacillus subtilis wild-type strains is analyzed. An insight into the incipient evolutionary divergence of the two Bacillus subtilis subspecies is provided.
