Alternative mechanisms of CAK assembly require an assembly factor or an activating kinase

Article Abstract:

More than one mechanism is possible for assembly of cyclin-dependent kinase-7 (CDK-7) and cyclin H. Assembly of CDK-7 and cyclin H in vitro is enhanced by p36, a subunit of CDK-activating kinase (CAK) in mice. The transient CDK7-cyclin H complex is stabilized by p36. Another pathway involving phosphorylation of threonine residue, T170 in human CDK7, by a CAK-activating kinase could also cause assembly of active CDK7-cyclin H dimers.

A Rad53 kinase-dependent surveillance mechanism 3that regulates histone protein levels6 in S. cerevisiae

Article Abstract:

Research points out that Rad53 facilitates genome stability by preventing histone damage effects both during normal cell cycle process and in response to DNA damage. Data indicate that Rad53 associates with histones in a dynamic complex, which is modulated by its kinase activity.

The DNA double-strand break repair gene hMRE11 is mutated in individuals with an Ataxia-telangiectasia-like disorder

Article Abstract:

Results show that the molecular connection between double-strand break recognition by the protein complexes and cell's ability to activate ATM controlled DNA damage response pathway links hMre11 gene to the complex Ataxia-Telangiectasia disorder.
