Application of the 5'-nuclease PCR assay in evaluation and development of methods for quantitative detection of Campylobacter jejuni

Article Abstract:

Research describes construction of nucleic acid primers and probes directed toward Campylobacter jejuni DNA fragment and using them along with the 5'-nuclease chemistry to detect C. jejuni. Results show that the probes detected 32 isolates of C. jejuni. Data indicate that the test is linear upto 6 log units.

Application of 5'-nuclease PCR for qunatitative detection of Listeria monocytogenes in pure cultures, water, skim milk, and unpasteurized whole milk

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that a magnetic-bead based 5'-nuclease PCR technique is capable of quantitatively detecting Listeria monocytogenes in water and milk. The assay is specific to L. monocytogenes as revealed by positive result on 65 isolates of the type strain and negative for other species of Listeria and unrelated bacteria.

Biofilm formation and the presence of the intercellular adhesion locus ica among staphylococci from food and food processing environments

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on staphylococci isolated from food. The authors describe the biofilm formation on polystyrene, and the presence of ica locus among these staphylococci.
