Genotyping of mature trees of Entandrophragma cylindricum with microsatellites

Article Abstract:

Ten microsatellite loci for the tropical tree Entandrophragma cylindricum (Sprague) Sprague (sapelli) is characterized to genotype individuals in forest stands for estimation of the genetic diversity of the species. The technique of building a (GA)(sub n) microsatellite-enriched library by capture with streptavidin-coated magnetic beads is used.

Assessing Genetic Diversity in Clonal Organisms: Low Diversity or Low Resolution? Combining Power and Cost Efficiency in Selecting Markers

Article Abstract:

Two sea grass species were used to demonstrate a method to assess genetic diversity using microsatellite datasets and a likelihood approach to calculate the probability of distinct individuals sharing identical multilocus genotypes. Findings indicate that studies showing low polymorphism should be reevaluated via appropriate polymorphic markers.

Genetic diversity in a feral horse population from Sable Island, Canada

Article Abstract:

A study was carried out to characterize the genetic diversity in Sable Island horses in comparison to 15 other horse breeds found in Canada and five Spanish breeds that are common. The results showed that the loss of the Sable Island horse population to the diversity in Canada was comparable or might be higher than other breeds of horses.
