Bcl2L12 inhibits post-mitochondrial apoptosis signaling in glioblastoma

Article Abstract:

A study examines the identification and functional characterization of Bcl2L12 that is strongly expressed in nearly all human primary glioblastoma (GBM). It is found that enforced Bcl2L12 expression displays marked apoptosis resistance in primary cortical astrocytes and its RNA interference-mediated knockdown sensitizes human glioma cell lines toward apoptosis in vitro and impairs tumor growth with increased intratumoral apoptosis in vivo.

Hsp70 promotes TNF-mediated apoptosis by binding IKKgamma and impairing NF-kappaB survival signaling

Article Abstract:

Hsp70 that promotes TNF killing by specifically binding the coiled-coil domain of IkappaB kinase gamma (IKKgamma) to inhibit IKK activity and consequently inhibit NF-kappaB-dependent antiapoptotic gene induction is demonstrated. Results provide significant novel insights into molecular mechanism for the pro-apoptotic behavior of Hsp70 in death-receptor-mediated cell death.

A viral caspase contributes to modified apoptosis for virus transmission

Article Abstract:

A report on the nucleotide and deduced amino acid sequence of Spodoptera frugiperda ascovirus (SfAV) is presented. The SfAV, a DNA virus that attacks lepidopterans, codes for an executioner caspase synthesized by 9 h after infection of Sf21 cells.
