Casein kinase 2-dependent serine phosphorylation of MuSK regulates acetylcholine receptor aggregation at the neuromuscular junction

Article Abstract:

The protein kinase CK2 interacts and colocalizes with muscle-specific receptor tyrosine kinase (MuSK) at post-synaptic specializations and it is observed that CK2-mediated phosphorylation of serine residues within the kinase insert (KI) of MuSK. Inhibition or knockdown of CK2, or exchange of phosphorylatable serines by alanines within the KI of MuSK, impaired acetylcholoine receptor (AChR) clustering, whereas their substitution by residues that imitate constitutive phosphorylation led to aggregation of AChRs even in the presence of CK2 inhibitors.

CKI, there's more than one: Casein kinase I family members in Wnt and Hedgehog signaling

Article Abstract:

A review of the positive and negative roles of casein kinase I (CKI) family of serine/threonine protein kinases in Wnt and Hedgehog signaling is presented. Multiple CKI members positively and negatively regulate Wnt and Hh signaling by associating with and/or phosphorylating multiple components of both pathways.

Protein kinase A and casein kinases mediate sequential phosphorylation events in the circadian negative feedback loop

Article Abstract:

A study is presented to show that the WHITE COLLAR-1 phosphorylation events critical for the negative feedback process occur first by a priming kinase, then by the FREQUENCY-recruited casein kinases.
