Culture-independent characterization of the microbiota of the ant lion Myrmeleon mobilis (Neuroptera: Myrmeleontidae)

Article Abstract:

The culture-independent characterization of the microbiota of the ant lion, Myrmeleon mobilis, and of the bacteria associated with a discontinuous insect gut is reported. The results have suggested that the ant lion microbial community is relatively simple, which might be a reflection of the diet and gut physiology of these insects.

Characterization of bacterial communities associated with deep sea corals on Gulf of Alaska seamounts

Article Abstract:

Bacterial communities associated with deep-sea corals on Gulf of Alaska seamounts were characterized. A cultivation-independent analysis of Alaskan seamount octocoral microflora showed that Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes and Acidobacteria dominate and vary in abundance.

New rfp- and pES213-derived tools for analysing symbiotic Vibrio fischeri reveal patterns of infection and lux expression in situ

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted on the symbiosis of genetically altered or tagged Vibrio fischeri strains, provided by powerful experimental approach. It was observed that pES213-based vectors and rfp are made use of in situ experimental approaches in studying the symbiosis.
