Cloning, expression, and purification of choline dehydrogenase from the moderate halophile Halomonas elongata

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates purification of the recombinant choline dehydrogenase with 70% homogeneity from Halomonas elongata betA gene, encoding the enzyme, cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. Data indicate that the purified enzyme shows similar substrate specificities and enzyme kinetics as the native enzyme.

A new rate law describing microbial respiration

Article Abstract:

This paper discusses the application of the rate law of mitochondrial respiration to bacterial or prokaryotic respiration. Research shows how the microbial respiration rate depends on the thermodynamic driving force and allows extrapolation of laboratory findings to natural conditions.

The high salt requirement of the moderate halophile Chromohalobacter salexigens DSM3043 can be met not only by BaCl but by other ions

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates the ability of the halophilic Chromohalobacter salexigens DSM3043 to grow in media containing high ion concentrations. Data show that the growth is stimulated by many monovalent anions and cations at 0.7 molar concentrations of each.
