Combining Inter- and Intrapopulation Information with the Weitzman Approach to Diversity Conservation

Article Abstract:

A new method is presented for calculating genetic extinction probabilities, in which diffusion process formulas are used to add intrapopulation information to genetic diversity conservation formulas. The method is illustrated with French and Spanish cattle breeds.

Evaluation of Candidate Genes in the Absence of Positional Information: A Poor Bet on a Blind Dog!

Article Abstract:

Linkage analysis and functional candidate gene approach were used to determine genetic mutations, using canine retinal diseases as an illustration. Implications for both veterinary and human medicine are discussed.

High-Resolution Characterization of the Canine DLA-DRB1 Locus Using Reference Strand-Mediated Conformational Analysis

Article Abstract:

Reference strand-mediated conformation analysis is shown to be useful for examining canine immune responses. Nearly 1,400 dogs have been typed via this method; findings are discussed.
