Common themes in microbial pathogenicity revisited

Article Abstract:

Microbiological research shows that many different types of pathogenic bacteria use some of the same mechanisms to infect their hosts. They are often found at particular locations on the chromosome or bacterial plasmids. The same contact-dependent secretion systems and regulatory mechanisms are commonly observed in different bacteria using PCR and deoxyribonucleic acid sequencing technology. Genetic research into pathogenic pathways and investigations into mechanisms used in cell immunology are continuing.

Pathogenesis of human papillomaviruses in differentiating epithelia

Article Abstract:

Human papillomaviruses (HPV) are the etiological agents of cervical and other anogenital malignancies. It is observed that one-third of HPV types specifically infect the genital tract, and a subset of these is the causative agents of anogenital cancers. The characterization of the cellular targets of these viral proteins and mechanisms regulating the differentiation-dependent viral life cycle remain active areas for the study of these important human pathogens.

Regulation of vacuolar pH and its modulation of some microbial species

Article Abstract:

The processes underlying the generation of organellar acidification and the strategies used by pathogens to circumvent it are described by using Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Helicobacter pylori. The determinants of normal pH homeostasis and the instances where microbial pathogenesis is associated with abnormal pH regulation are analyzed.
