Consequences of prairie fragmentation on the progeny sex ratio of a gynodioecious species, Lobelia spicata (Campanulaceae)

Article Abstract:

The potential impacts of effects resulting from reduced population sizes are investigated by comparing progeny sex ratios produced by female and hermaphroditic plant in small and large populations of the gynodioecious prairie species, Lobelia spicata. The results show that progeny sex ratios of hermaphroditic plants are strongly influenced by population size, whereas progeny sex ratios of female plants are strongly influenced by population sex ratio.

Evolution in closely adjacent plant population X: Long-term persistence of prereproductive isolation at a mine boundary

Article Abstract:

The flowering time differences between metal-tolerant and nontolerant populations in the grass Anthroxanthum odoratum and also the long-term preproductive isolation at the mine boundary are discussed. The analysis have shown that the cline in flowering time has persisted since the first study in the early 1960s and that it continues to show an inverse pattern with greater isolation at the mine boundary.

An investigation into effects of long-distance seed dispersal on organelle population genetic structure and colonization rate: A model analysis

Article Abstract:

A spatial simulation model is constructed to investigate the effect of long-distance dispersal on the spread and genetic structure of plant populations under different dispersal and landscape scenarios. Both the genetic structure and the speed of colonization were affected by the environmental influences on survivorship and fecundity.
