Detection of Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae by air sampling with a nested PCR assay

Article Abstract:

The first successful detection of airborne Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae under experimental and field conditions with a new nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay was described. The nested PCR was used to analyze samples collected in pig houses where respiratory problems had been common. Air was also sampled in a mycoplasma-free herd. The nested PCR was highly specific and more sensitive than one-step PCR. The sampling system was able to detect the bacteria on 80% of the farms where acute respiratory disease was present under field conditions.

Versatile use of oriC plasmids for functional genomics of Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capricolum

Article Abstract:

Replicative oriC plasmids were developed for several mollicutes, including three Mycoplasma species responsible for bovine and caprine diseases. oriC plasmids were evaluated in Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capricolum as generic tools for expression of heterologous proteins and gene inactivation by homologous recombination.

Molecular epidemiology of Mycoplasma conjunctivae in caprinae: transmission across species in natural outbreaks

Article Abstract:

The transmission of Mycoplasma conjuctivae across domestic and wild Caprinae populations is measured using a molecular subtyping method, in which a variable domain of the lppS gene encoding lipoprotein S adhesin is employed. Data indicate that the bacterium is transmitted between domestic sheep and wild Caprinae.
