Development and optimization of a novel immunomagnetic separation-bacteriophage assay for detection of Salmonella enterica serovar enteritidis in broth

Article Abstract:

A new assay method is evaluated for detecting the presence of the serovar enteritidis for Salmonella enterica in broth samples, without the expense or technical sophistication required for conventional methods. The assay uses the bacteriophage SJ2 normal infection cycle for detection, and involves immunomagnetic separation to capture and concentrate target cells, phage infection of target cells, progeny phage amplification and recovery, and progeny phage assay based on their effects on healthy host cells.

Application of rapid dot blot immunoassay for detection of Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis in eggs, poultry, and other foods

Article Abstract:

An assessment is presented on an antibody-based monoclonal dot blot immunoassay used to detect Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis within a 24-hour target. Detection was still possible even when Enteritidis was outcompeted 1:400 by other bacteria, but the method took 28 hours for detection in other food products and in poultry.

Morphological, host range, and genetic characterization of two coliphages

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on bacteriophages AR1 and LG1 infecting Escherichia coli strains. The authors describe the study of the host range, genetic and morphological characterization of these bacteriophages.
