Diplotype trend regression analysis of the ADH gene cluster and the ALDH2 gene: Multiple significant associations with alcohol dependence

Article Abstract:

A study aims to extend the structured association (SA) approach and to overcome its limitations by developing a novel method, which is called 'diplotype trend regression' (DTR) analysis, a method similar to haplotype trend regression. The study genotyped 16 markers within the alcohol dehydrogenase gene cluster and 4 markers within the aldehyde dehydrogenase2 gene and 38 unlinked ancestry-informative markers in a case-control sample of 801 individuals.

Accommodating linkage disequilibrium in genetic-association analyses via ridge regression

Article Abstract:

The significance of the ridge regression and related techniques in studying the linkage disequilibrium (LD) in genetic-association analyses is discussed. The techniques are extremely effective due to their ability of differentiating causative and noncausative variations in the analyses.

Genome wide linkage for opioid dependence and related traits

Article Abstract:

A genome wide linkage scan for opioid dependence (OD) and related traits is presented. An attempt is made to identify the chromosomal location of genes that increase risk of OD and related traits identified using data reduction and cluster analytic approaches.
