Disinfection of contaminated water by using solar irradiation

Article Abstract:

Contaminated water is a major source of gastroenteritis illness around the world especially in rural areas in developing countries. A portable low-cost solar unit was designed to disinfect unpotable water and it was found to be effective but further tests are needed before commercial production can be undertaken.

Diagnostic real-time PCR for detection of Salmonella in food

Article Abstract:

A robust 5' nuclease (taqMan) real-time PCR is developed and validated in house for the specific detection of Salmonella in food. This methodology can contribute to meet the increasing demand of quality assurance laboratories for standard diagnostic methods.
