Diversity and biocatalytic potential of epoxide hydrolases identified by genome analysis

Article Abstract:

Epoxide hydrolases plays an important role in the biodegradation of organic compounds and are potentially useful in enantioselective biocatalysis and analysis of various genomic databases reveals that about 20% of sequenced organisms contain one or more putative epoxide hydrolase genes. The results show that the expression of epoxide hydrolase genes that are detected by analyses of genomic databases is a useful strategy for obtaining new biocatalysts.

Trigonopsis variabilis D-amino acid oxidase: Control of protein quality and opportunities for biocatalysis through production in Escherichia coli

Article Abstract:

The flavoenzymes D-amino acid oxidases (DAOs) are used in the industrial conversion of cephalosporin C into glutaryl-7-aminocephalosporanic acid in the yeast Trigonopsis variabili. The recombinant TvDAO is analyzed for the catalycity in the Escherichia coli strains and show reduced toxicity in the microorganism.

Directed evolution of a thermostable phosphite dehydrogenase for NAD(P)H regeneration

Article Abstract:

An enzymatic system based on phosphite dehydrogenase from Pseudomonas stutzeri is developed to regenerate the reduced nicotinamide cofactors NADH and NADPH. Results would enable to reach the goal of developing a low-cost, highly efficient biocatalyst for NAD(P)H regeneration.
