Do black-throated green warblers prefer conifers?: Meso-and microhabitat use in a mixed wood forest

Article Abstract:

The Black-throated Green Warbler has a wide breeding range, including forests of varying types throughout North America. The influence of conifer distribution on territory placement at the mesohabitat scale was examined to measure the relative use of deciduous and coniferous trees. The black-throated Green Warblers were found to prefer conifers at the meso- and microhabitat scales, however treefall gaps and dense deciduous shrub layers may be important at the fledgling stage.
