Effects of expression of hemA and hemB genes on production of porphyrin in propionibactreium freudenreichii

Article Abstract:

The hemeA gene, which encodes delta-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) synthase from Rhodobacter sphaeroides and the hemB gene, which encodes porphobilinogen (PBG) synthase from propionibacterium freudenreichii subsp. shermanii IFO12424 are examined. The recombinant strains accumulated larger amounts of ALA and PBG, with resultant 28- to 33-fold-higher production of porphyrinogens such as uroporphyrinogen.

Heterologous expression, purification, and characterization of a highly active xylose reductase from Neurospora crassa

Article Abstract:

The identification, heterologous expression, purification and characterization of xylose reductase (XR) gene from the Neurospora crassa whole-genome sequence are described. This enzyme is one of the most active ERs and it can be used for the in vitro production of xylitol.

Genome-wide screen of Salmonella genes expressed during infection in pigs, using in vivo expression technology

Article Abstract:

The identification of Salmonella genes expressed during infection of pigs is described. The environmental signals that cause in vivo-expressed genes were identified to be high temperature and increased osmolarity.
