Emerging patterns in complement-mediated pathogen recognition

Article Abstract:

The role of the complement system in response to blood-borne pathogens is highlighted. Additional levels of regulation in complement-mediated pathogen recognition and clearance are demonstrated and the findings have important implications for complement activation in peripheral immune response and immune clearance.

Cecile Pickart 1954-2006

Article Abstract:

Cecile Packart was successful in shaping the ubiquitin field for over two decades until she died on April 5, 2006. Her finest work centered on the polyubiquitin chain, the primary signal for protein degradation by the proteasome.
