First breeding records of Whooper Swan and Brambling in North America at Attu Island, Alaska

Article Abstract:

The first breeding records of Brambling (Fringilla montifringilla) and Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus) in Alaska and North America were documented in the spring of 1996 at the Attu Island in the Western Aleutians. Together with a nest that was loaded with eggs, a territorial pair of Bramblings was located near Lake Nicholas in the lower Siddens Valley of the Attu Island. Five cygnets with two adult Whooper Swans, and their nest, were also observed on a lake southeast of Lake Nicholas.

Survivorship, breeding dispersal and mate fidelity in eastern kingbirds

Article Abstract:

Color-marked Eastern Kingbirds were observed over a six-year period to evaluate survivorship, breeding dispersal and mate/site fidelity. Males generally showed greater survivorship rates over females. Female kingbirds exhibited more mobility for moving to another territory, while males travelled shorter distances between nest sites.

Copulation behavior in the Osprey in relation to breeding density

Article Abstract:

Research concerning the copulation behavior of the Osprey in Sweden is presented. Two populations with different densities and localities were studied. Extra-pair copulations and visits were also analysed.
