Functional characterization of two cytochrome P450 monooxygenase genes, P450-1 and P450-4, of the gibberellic acid gene cluster in Fusarium proliferatum (Gibberella fujikuroi MP-D)

Article Abstract:

The gibberellin (GA) gene cluster and GA pathway in the closest related species, Fusarium proliferatum (MP-D), is analyzed and it is demonstrated that the GA genes share a high degree of sequence homology with the corresponding genes of Fusarium fujikuroi (Gibberella fujikuroi MP-C). The results indicate that the reason for the loss of GA production in F. proliferatum is due to several mutations in the GA biosynthetic genes rather than in regulatory genes.

Restoration of gibberellin production of Fusarium proliferatum by functional complementation of enzymatic blocks

Article Abstract:

The enzymatic block at the first specific step in the gibberellin (GA) biosynthetic pathway of Fusarium proliferatum, the synthesis of geranylgeranyl diphosphate and the synthesis of ent-kaurene was determined. The completion of these enzymatic blocks was done by transferring the corresponding genes from GA-producing Fusarium proliferatum, resulted in restoration of the GA production.

Characterization of Fusarium oxysporum [beta]-1,6-galactanase an enzyme that hydrolyzes larch wood arabinogalactan

Article Abstract:

A type II arabinogalactan-degrading enzyme (FoGal1) which was purified and isolated from Fusarium oxysporum 12S indicates that FoGal1 is a [beta]-1,6-galactanase that is capable of preferentially debranching [beta]-1,6-galactobiose from the substrate.
