Purification and characterization of a maltotetraose-forming alkaline alpha-amylase from an alkalophilic Bacillus strain, GM8901

Article Abstract:

An alpha- and exo-amylase, called Amyl I, was purified from the alkalophilic bacterium Bacillus sp. strain GM8901. Proteolysis of Amyl I in culture produced four additional amylases. Amyl I exhibited an optimal pH of 11.0 to 12.0 and stability up to 50 degrees Celsius. Amyl I, which was dependent on certain metal ions, primarily produced maltotetraose from starch using maltohexaose and maltopentaose intermediates.

Purification and characterization of chitosanase from Bacillus sp. strain KCTC 0377BP and its application for the production of chitosan oligosaccharides

Article Abstract:

The purification and characterization of a chitosanase from Bacillus sp. strain KCTC 0377BP and the applications of the enzyme for chitosan oligosaccharide production is described. The results demonstrate that this is a valuable enzyme for the commercial production of chitosan oligosaccharides and other chitosan hydrolysates.

Thermostable chitosanase from Bacillus sp. strain CK4: cloning and expression of the gene and characterization of the enzyme

Article Abstract:

The recombinant chitosanase is stable at 80 C with a half-life of 90 minutes making it a candidate for industrial use. Data show that the enzyme can be purified to homogeneity by simple procedures and is useful in the production of oligosaccharides.
