Generation of Ski-knockdown mice by expressing a long double-strand RNA from an RNA polymerase II promoter

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on vector pDECAP developed to express long double-strand RNA from RNA polymerase II promoter. Results demonstrate that transgenic mice embryos expressing long double-strand RNA exhibit phenotypes similar to those of Ski-deficient embryos such as eye formation and neural tube closure.

In vitro propagation and transcriptional profiling of human mammary stem/progenitor cells

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on mammary stem cells. The authors describe the cultivation system developed for the propagation of human mammary epithelial cells, and report that nonadherent mammospheres are enriched in stem/progenitor cells.

Virulence-related surface glycoproteins in the yeast pathogen Candida glabrata are ebcoded in subtelomeric clusters and subject to RAP1- and SIR-dependent transcriptional silencing

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on Candida glabrata which can adhere to mammalian cells, an interaction which depends on the Epa1p lectin. The authors demonstrate that silencing subtelomeric Epa1 loci depends on functional Sir3p and Rap1p.
