Genetic basis for co-adaptive gene complexes in rice (Oryza sativa L.) landraces

Article Abstract:

Co-adaptive gene complexes in rice landraces and their genetic basis are discussed. Using an IR53 x Azucena rice doubled-haploid (DH) population, 122 AFLP markers were mapped to investigate associations between marker loci and quantitative trait loci (QTL) that seem to have stayed intact across very varied rice landraces over thousands of years.

Statistical tests of selective neutrality in the age of genomics

Article Abstract:

Statistical tests of selective neutrality are discussed in this short review article. Tests based on comparisons of the level of variabliity in nonsynonymous and synonymous sites can be set up without demographic assumptions and such tests seem to be useful for identifying specific regions or specific sites targeted by selection.

Alternative splicing and expressivity of the Axin(super.Fu) allele in mice

Article Abstract:

Alternative splicing, incomplete penetrance, and variable expressivity have been studied in mice carrying the mutant Axin(super.Fu) allele with mRNA profiles studied. Higher levels of alternatively spliced mRNAs correlate positively with stronger expression of the mutant trait.
