Human and ape molecular clocks and constraints on paleontological hypotheses

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to examine that divergence times of living species has the potential to constrain hypotheses of the relationships of fossil species. A new DNA sequence from nine protein-coding nuclear genes in apes is added to increase the precision of modular time estimates bearing on the evolutionary historny of apes and humans.

A weak effect of background selection on trinucleotide microsatellites in maize

Article Abstract:

The Sequence and microsatellite data is used to investigate the relationship between local recombination rate and neutral diversity in maize and teosinte. Contrasting nucleotide diversity with microsatellite diversity can help in distinguishing between hitchhiking and background diversity.

Distribution properties of polymononucleotide repeats in molluscan genomes

Article Abstract:

A study of the occurrence, distribution, density and length of polymononucleotide repeating in exons, intron-untranslated regions (UTR) and intergenic DNA is presented. Observations revealed that the genomic density of poly-(A/T) repeats is not correlated with the DNA content of species.
