In vivo analysis of a developmental circuit for direct transcriptional activation and repression in the same cell by a Runx protein

Article Abstract:

A developmental circuit for direct transcriptional activation and repression in the same cell by a Runx protein has been subjected to in vivo analysis . Runx proteins are implicated in acute myeloid leukemia, stomach cancer and cleidocranial dysplasia. They also control vital developmental processes in which they function as both transcriptional activators and repressors. T he developing cone cell in the Dr osophila visual system has been used to show the mechanism of positive/ negative regulations by the Runx protein Loze nge.

Toll receptor-mediated 'Drosophila' immune response requires Dif, an NF-kB factor

Article Abstract:

Immune response as expressed by the Drosophila Toll sequence relies on Dif, the third component in NF-kB-related factors, Along with Dorsal and Relish, Dif is present in the Toll signaling pathway, and acts downstream to induce drosomycin. Dif-impaired pathways not only result in the absence of drosomycin but defensin as well, hindering immune response.

The Drosophila Su(var)2-10 locus regulates chromosome structure and function and encodes a member of the PIAS protein family

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that mutations that alter heterochromatin-induced gene silencing bring about changes in the chromosome inheritance in Drosophila melanogaster. Data show that mutation in the gene locus Suppressor of Position-Effect Variegation affects multiple aspects of chromosome structure and function.
