Influence of culture conditions on expression of 40-kilodalton porin protein of Vibrio anguillarum serotype O2

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to assess the influence of culture conditions on the relative amounts of the major outer membrane protein (MOMP) of Vibrio anguillarum serotype O2 in cell lysates. Immunoblot analysis indicates that antigenic determinants of the V. anguillarum O2 40-kDA porin were conserved within bacterial species of the genus Vibrio. Results revealed that the amounts of the V. anguillarum O2 40-kDA MOMP were increased by growth in medium with high osmolarity and containing high salt concentrations and were decreased by growth at 37 degrees centigrade.

Validation of a green fluorescent protein-labeled strain of Vibrio vulnificus for use in the evaluation of postharvest strategies for handling of raw oysters

Article Abstract:

A biological indicator, which could be used to study the behavior of Vibrio vulnificus, an important molluscan shellfish-associated human pathogen is described. A V. vulnificus ATCC 27562 derivative that expresses green fluorescent protein (GFP) and kanamycin resistance is constructed using conjugation.

Localization of functional polypeptides in bacterial inclusion bodies

Article Abstract:

The insoluble protein aggregates called inclusion bodies (IBs) produced in bacteria contain many functional polypeptides. The image analysis of IBs with green fluorescent protein shows localization of these aggregates with a core rich in active forms.
