Inheritance of nuclear DNA markers in gynogenetic haploid pink salmon

Article Abstract:

Research into the inheritance of a range of polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based markers in haploid pink salmon (Oncorhynchus gorbuscha) has sought to identify large numbers of genetic markers in the pink salmon genome, thus making it possible eventually to develop a linkage map. It has been established that the Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism technique is especially well suited for use with haploid embryos. Many bands are produced per reaction, with more polymorphic loci thus being produced per PCR amplification. The analysis of gynogenetic haploids can play a key role in increasing understanding of the transmission of genetic markers in salmonid fishes.

Kinship analysis of pacific salmon: Insights into mating, homing, and timing of reproduction

Article Abstract:

Research into the mating, homing and reproduction behaviour of pacific salmon is presented. The analysis implemented multilocus microsatellite genotypes to identify relatedness and kinship in the Washington area.

The aunt and uncle effect: An empirical evaluation of the confounding influence of full sibs on parents on pedigree reconstruction

Article Abstract:

The effect of full sibs of parents on pedigree reconstruction is examined in the case of a known two-generation pedigree of chinook salmon.
