Genetic variation detected by microsatellites if five Spanish dog breeds

Article Abstract:

Five Spanish dog breeds were studied to obtain estimates of genetic variation. Four microsatellites were used, and each were polymorphic in the five breeds. Average heterozygosities in the breeds ranged from 0.70 to 0/88 and the number of alleles per breed ranged from five to seven.

Comparisons of multilocus DNA fingerprints and microsatellites in an estimate of genetic distances in chicken

Article Abstract:

Genetic variation was estimated based on DNA fingerprinting and microsatellites in samples of chick lines. The application of DNA fingerprints on DNA pools was found to be a feasible, rapid and economical method, and competitive with the use of microsatellites.
