Menopausal experiences and bone density of Mayan women in Yucatan, Mexico

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the transition of menopausal Mayan women, based on research which included reproductive history, bone density, hormone concentrations, physical activity history, food samples and demographic information. The authors find that the endocrine characteristics of menopause were similar among Mayan women and women in the US, but symptoms, signs and consequences differed among the two populations.
