Microsatellite markers in Canada Gees (Branta canadensis)

Article Abstract:

A genomic library for a Canada goose (Branta canadensis), screened for clones incorporating certain microsatellite motifs, identified 14 positive clones. These were sequenced and five primer pairs were developed and used to screen around 460 Canada geese for genetic variations. The primer pairs were scorable and polymorphic. The DNA from 2-year-old goose tail fans was isolated, and two of the five good primers amplified DNA from a partial family of wood ducks. No variation was observed at either locus.

Genetic variability and mating system in three species of the genus Centrosema

Article Abstract:

The Centrosema species exhibit a high degree of genetic variability between and within species, indicating high breeding capabilities. Polymorphism, heterozygosity, and genetic diversity are higher within the same than between species. Genetic variability, mating systems, and population genetic structure of three species of Centrosema are determined using isozyme and DNA markers. Mating system studies reveal that outcrossing rates are high.

Evaluation of 15 candidate genes for dilated cardiomyopathy in the Newfoundland dog

Article Abstract:

A study describing the evaluation of 15 candidates' genes in Newfoundland dog families that segregate Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is presented. Results concluded that the analyzed genes are not involved in DCM in Newfoundland dog.
