Molecular basis for resistance to the anticancer drug cisplatin in Dictyostelium

Article Abstract:

Researchers have identified six genes involved in resistance to the anti-cancer drug cisplatin. The genes code for proteins involved in cell death, cell proliferation, and gene regulation. Disrupting three of the genes leads to defects in the multi-cellular development of Dictyostelium.

Analysis of two formaldehyde oxidation pathways in Methylobacillus flagellatus KT, a ribulose monophosphate cycle methylotroph

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine oxidation of formaldehyde to formyl form in the aerobic methylotrophic bacteria. Results demonstrate that of the two pathways involved, formaldehyde oxidation via 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase is operating in Methylobacillus flagellatus KT.

Organization of threonine biosynthesis genes from the obligate methylotroph Methylobacillus flagellatus

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to determine the arrangement of the genes involved in the threonine biosynthesis in Methylobacillus flagellatus. Results from cloning and sequencing studies indicate only two genes, hom and thrC, are linked, producing a 7.5 kb transcript.
