Molecular diversity of rhizobia occurring on native shrubby legumes in southeastern Australia

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the structure of rhizobial communities nodulating native shrubby legumes in an eucalypt forest in southeastern Australia. A molecular approach was utilized to carry out the analysis. The nodulation ability of the representative strains were evaluated by inoculation onto the young plants of the original host. Experimental results indicated no geographical partitioning among the rhizobia.

Small-subunit rRNA genotyping of rhizobia nodulating Australian Acadia spp

Article Abstract:

Research indicates that rhizobial genomospecies occurring in Australian Acadia spp. may be climate-specific. Data were obtained from 13 Acacia species from 44 different locations; of the nine genomospecies identified, only two were widespread, with one found in all but northern Australia and the other completely absent in Tasmania, suggesting a strong climatic influence.

Chromosomal and symbiotic relationships of rhizobia nodulating Medicago truncatula and M. laciniata

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to determine whether distinct chromosomal groups of rhizobia nodulate Medicago truncatula. Medicago truncatula has unrestricted rhizobial requirements as opposed to Medicago laciniata.
