Molecular phylogeny of Anabaena circinalis and its identification in environmental samples by PCR

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that Anabaena circinalis species can be identified in a mixed population by sequence similarities of DNA-dependent RNA polymerase gene. Development of a polymerase chain reaction specific for Anabaena circinalis genome is presented.

Geographical segregation of the neurotoxin-producing cyanobacterium Anabaena circinalis

Article Abstract:

Research demonstrates that Anabaena circinalis producing two types of neurotoxins, anatoxin-a and paralytic shellfish poisons, though belong to a monophyletic group, form two distinct 16S rRNA gene clusters. Geogrphically, those producing anatoxin-a are confined to American and European regions whereas paralytic shellfish poinson producing types are found in Australia.

Rapid confirmation of Clostridium perfringens by using chromogenic and fluorogenic substrates

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the Clostridium perfringens, an anaerobic, gram-positive and spore-forming bacillus. The identification of this bacillus via 4-methyumbelliferyl phosphate and ortho-nitrophenyl-beta-D-galactopyranoside has been carried out and the results are reported.
