The Transfer and History of "Reduced Height Genes" (Rht) in Wheat from Japan to Europe

Article Abstract:

Historical studies of Japanese and European wheat varieties indicates that wheat breeders directly or indirectly affected reduced height genes in wheat varieties for both geographic regions via the exchange of seed samples and through government import programs.

The allopolyploids in wheat that arise from the diploid male gametes formed due to the formation of first-division restitution (FDR) nuclei in meiosis act as an evolutionary force giving rise to bread wheat.
