Nucleocytoplasmic transport of macromolecules

Article Abstract:

Cellular research is continuing to build up an overall picture of nuclear transport mechanisms. The delineating export transportation of molecules from nucleus to cytoplasm are complex compared to nuclear import methods although a greater understanding will inevitably be achieved through further research. Studies into nuclear pores, protein import and nuclear export are described.

Transport into and out of the nucleus

Article Abstract:

The nuclear pore complexes, which are large protein structures, mediate the passage of ribosomes and mRNA molecules in the eukaryotic cell. The Ran-dependent nucleocytoplasmic transport model best explains the transport of molecules across the nuclear pore complexes. Current research efforts in understanding the mechanistic aspects of the transport are discussed.
