Numerical analysis of the proximal humeral outline: bilateral shape differences

Article Abstract:

There is substantial bilateral asymmetry in the tubercular areas of the proximal humerus. This was established by researchers who photographed 36 pairs of right and left humeri and used elliptical Fourier functions to analyze them. Although the tubercular areas varied significantly, this was not true of the articular region.

Body size and shape and glycemic control among Maya women in rural Yucatan

Article Abstract:

Research investigates the associations between body size and shape and glycemic control. The sample of the research had 40-85 years, 60 nondiabetic Maya women, from 16 rural villages of America. According to the principle component analysis, glycated blood proteins exhibit modest commonality with body morphology.

Variability in humeral dimensions in a sample of modern human females: implications for measuring cortical bone loss

Article Abstract:

Techniques are presented for conducting cortical bone loss research, using as subjects a collection of skeletons of females from the early 1900s. These focus on determining which measurement axes, sites and types are least and most variable, inclusive of joint surface and external shaft dimensions.
