Operating under a Gag order: a block against incoming virus by the Fv1 gene

Article Abstract:

The mouse Fv1 gene is a cell-autonomous gene that provides resistance against incoming virus. Previous studies suggest that proteins encoded by the gag gene provide the target of Fv1 action on the incoming virus. The Gag-related protein is able to block virus after reverse transcription during the early phase of the viral life cycle. The block prevents the establishment of the integrated provirus in the host genome.

Reverse transcriptase of moloney murine leukemia virus binds to eukaryotic release factor 1 to modulate suppression of translational termination

Article Abstract:

Results indicate that reverse transcriptase of murine leukemia virus can enhance translational termination suppression. Data indicate that reverse transcriptase interaction with the eukaryotic translation release factor 1 is essential for the translational readthrough.

Deletion of DDB1 in mouse brain and Lens leads to p53-dependent elimination of proliferating cells

Article Abstract:

Mice with null and floxed alleles of the DDB1 gene were generated to investigate its physiological significance. The results indicate that DDB1 plays an essential role in maintaining viability and genomic integrity of dividing cells.
