Physical and genetic map of the genome of Staphylococcus carnosus TM300

Article Abstract:

A genome map of Staphylococcus carnosus TM300 was developed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis of DNA fragments taken after digestion with NotI, SfiI and ApaI. The size of the chromosome was found to be about 2590 kb. The fragments were constructed into a physical map through a combination of complementary techniques including multiple and partial digests of genomic DNA, hybridization with homologous gene probes, and cross-Southern hybridization.

Biosynthesis of triacylglcerol in the filamentous fungus Mucor circinelloides

Article Abstract:

Liquid cultures of Mucor circinelloides were studied to examine lipid metabolism. Major labelled lipids in cultures incubated with (super14C)acetate were triacylgylcerol (TAG), phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE). Phosphatidic acid metabolism to diacylglycerol and TAG was achieved by an increase in the pH to 8.0. GPATT exhibited an obvious selectivity for palmitoyl-CoA and the LPAAT for oleoyl- and linoleoyl-CoA.

Identification of a second lipase gene, gehD, in staphylococcus epidermidis: comparison of sequence with those of other stphylococcal lipases

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that similar to other staphylococcal lipases, gehD lipase from S. epidermidis is a 45 kilodalton protein and its gene does not hybridize with the DNA from other staphylococcal strains. Data further suggest that the enzyme is more related to that of S. aureus species than to each other.
