Physical mapping of 32 genetic markers on the Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 chromosome

Article Abstract:

Previous research has located a number of virulence and metabolic genes on the combined physical and genetic map of the Pseudomonas aeruginosa chromosome. However, the use of synthetic probes are likely to result in the location of more genes on the map of the chromosome. To test the validity of this hypothesis, a random survey of the P. aeruginosa genome is conducted. The chromosome is fractionated with two enzymes and PFGE is used to separate the genomic fragments and map a collection of 40 genes. The method is shown to be effective in rapidly mapping the P. aeruginosa gene without linkage analysis.

Functional analysis of genes responsible for the synthesis of the B-band O antigen of Pseudomonas aeruginosa serotype O6 lipopolysaccharide

Article Abstract:

Results show that the genes for B-band O antigen biosynthesis in Pseudomonas aeruginosa serotype O6 are contained in a 14.6 kilobase DNA fragment. The data indicate that the majority of these genes have a role in the lipopolysaccharide biosynthesis.

Involvement of the rmI locus in core oligosaccharide and O polysaccharide assembly in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that L-Rha is the receptor of the lipopolysaccharide core involved in the O polysaccharide attachment in Pseudomonas aeruginosa as shown by gene mutation studies.
