Physiological responses of Pseudomonas putida KT2442 to phosphate starvation

Article Abstract:

Previous research has suggested poor survival rates among Pseudomonas putida strain KT2442 under a condition of sulphur or phosphate deprivation. To understand this process further, the physiological responses of P. putida strain KT2442 to phosphate deprivation are determined with respect to cell morphology, macromolecular content and rates of total protein synthesis. It is shown that phosphate-deprived cultures undergo population shifts that allow them to be taken over mutants that have adjusted to phosphate deprivation.

Visualization of N-acylhomoserine lactone-mediated cell-cell communication between bacteria colonizing the tomato rhizosphere

Article Abstract:

Bacteria that colonize rhizospheres manufacture N-acylhomoserine lactone (AHL) for cell to cell communication. This was demonstrated by researchers who inserted into AHL-negative Pseudomonas putida an AHL sensor plasmid that produces green fluorescent protein in the presence of AHL.
