Population genetic structure and colonization history of Bombus terrestris s.l. (Hymenoptera: Apidae) from the Canary Islands and Madeira

Article Abstract:

Phenotype analysis suggests bumblebees from the Canary Islands and Madeira do not share common ancestry and should continue to be treated as separate species. A population from each of the four Canary Islands and one from Madeira were compared to continental populations. The Madeira sample showed strong similarity to European genetic types, but the Canary Island populations were distinct from the others.

Is urbanization scrambling the genetic structure of human populations? A case study

Article Abstract:

The change is population structure over three generations is examined by analyzing both demographic and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) data from human populations in Iran. The results have shown that the erosion of human population structure is not very important, expect in some large conurbations, which has vital implications for future sampling strategies.

Y chromosome traveled north

Article Abstract:

A survey of Y chromosome diversity in British nationals with a parental grandparent born in Britain by King and others links the applications of genetic lineage to understand human demographic history, indicated the 'West African ' origin for the east Yorkshire paternally inherited part of the Y chromosome (NRY).
