Post-transcriptional small RNA pathways in plants: Mechanisms and regulations

Article Abstract:

Small RNAs are riboregulators that have critical roles in most eukaryotes and repress gene expression by acting either on DNA to guide sequence elimination and chromatin remodeling, or on RNA to guide cleavage and translation repression. A review on the various types of post-transcriptional small RNA-directed pathways in plants, describing their roles and their regulations is presented.

Intracellular transcription of G-rich DNAs induces formation of G-loops, novel structures containing G4 DNA

Article Abstract:

Electron microscopy (EM) is used to identify and characterize G-loops, novel structures produced upon transcription of G-rich regions in individual molecules. The results show that G4 DNA forms within G-rich regions in transcribed plasmid genomes in vitro and in vivo.

PBAF chromatin remodeling complex requires a novel specificity subnit, BAF200, to regulate expression of selective interferon-responsive genes

Article Abstract:

PBAF and BAF have selectivity in mediating transcription of different interferon-responsive genes. The study provides in vivo evidence that PBAF and BAF regulate expression of distinct genes, and suggests that BAF200 plays a key role in PBAF function.
