Production dynamics of extracellular proteases accompanying morphological differentiation of Streptomyces albidoflavus SMF301

Article Abstract:

The enzymes chymotrypsin-like protease (CTP), trypsin-like protease (TLP) and metalloprotease (MTP) are produced sequentially during growth of Streptomyces albidoflavus SMF301. CTP is produced only in culture with proteins as the nitrogen source. CTP hydrolyzes nitrogen compounds necessary for the growth of the mycelium. TLP is necessary for the formation of aerial mycelium while MTP enables the formation of mature spores. Spore formation in submerged mycelium requires the activity of TLP and MTP. A thickened mycelium is formed if MTP activity is suppressed.

Nitrogen source governs the patterns of growth and pristinamycin production in ' Streptomyces pristinaespiralis '

Article Abstract:

The regulation of pristinamycin production in Streptomyces pristinaespiralis is investigated using inorganic, organic, and mineral sources of nitrogen. Results indicate that growth of the bacterium is favored by the various nitrogen sources used and pristinamycin production being independent of the nitrogen source employed.

Intermediates of rifamycin polyketide synthase produced by an Amycolatopsis mediterranei mutant with inactivated rifF gene

Article Abstract:

Results show that rifF gene product releases several linear intermediates of rifamycin B biosynthesis from different modules of polyketide synthase. The data provide insights into the biosynthetic steps involved in the rifamycin B biosynthesis.
