Production of antibacterial compounds and biofilm formation by Roseobacter species are influenced by culture conditions

Article Abstract:

compounds are common phenotypes that are found in members of the Rosenbacter clade, especially strains associated with dinoflagellates. The analysis has shown that the ability to produce antibacterial compounds that inhibit non-Roseobacter species might give members of the Roseobacter clade a selective advantage and also help in explaining the dominance of members of this clade in association with marine algal microbiota.

Biofilm-specific cross-species induction of antimicrobial compounds in bacilli

Article Abstract:

Results indicate that cells of Bacillus licheniformis strain EI-34-6 in an air-membrane surface bioreactor behaves as if they are in a biofilm environment and produce pigments and antimicrobial compounds, like bacitracin. The bacilli exhibit a biofilm-specific cross-species signaling system that enables these planktonically grown cells to express as biofilms.

Increased production of xylanase by expression of a truncated version of the xyn 11A gene from Nonomuraea flexuosa in trichoderma reesei

Article Abstract:

The region encoding the tail carbohydrate binding module (CBM) is deleted from the Nonomuraea flexuosa xyn11A and the truncated gene is expressed in Trichoderma reesei.
