Quantitative genetics of allogamous F(sub.2): an origin of randomly fertilized populations

Article Abstract:

Quantitative genetics of allogamous F(sub.2) and an origin of randomly fertilized populations are discussed. The quantitative genetic properties are derived from the bulk F(sub.2) coming from random fertilization in hybrid F(sub.1) individuals. New general equations have been found for all genotype frequencies, the inbreeding coefficient, allele frequencies and broad-sense and narrow-sense heritabilities. It is correct to assume that such an F(sub.2) is a classical RF population. The allogamous F(sub.2) is a natural origin for the RF population.

Inbreeding and the genetic variance in floral traits of Mimulus guttatus

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on genetic variance in natural plant populations. The authors demonstrate that the inbreeding will alter the evolutionary response to natural selection on floral characters.

Quantitative genetics of intraspecies hybrids

Article Abstract:

Results illustrate that in plant breeding studies, quantitative genetics enables evaluation of natural selection and forward selection quantitatively from hybrid analyses. Data indicate that hybrids exhibiting maximum hybrid vigor can not maximize genetic advances through forward selection.
