Radiation-sensitive mutants of Arabidopsis thaliana

Article Abstract:

Arabidopsis thaliana plants from mutagenized seeds were examined to determine hypersensitivity levels to UV-C light. The mutants were characterized by leaf and root tissue hypersensitivity to UV radiation and by seed sensitivity to ionizing radiation. All plants exhibited better UV resistance after photoreactivation exposure. Extreme, intermediate and wild-type levels of hypersensitivity emerged for mutant root tissues.

Structure and evolution of genes encoding polyubiquitin and ubiquitin-like proteins in Arabidopsis thaliana ecotype Columbia

Article Abstract:

Eight ubiquitin sequences, having four polyubiquitin genes and four ubiquitin like genes, are isolated, and characterized to determine their evolution and structure. The polyubiquitin genes consist of tandem repeats of 229 binding protein (bp) ubiquitin coding region. The formation of sequences by the process of gene duplication occurs before gene crossing over and conversion events.

Modification of yeast Cdc53p by the ubiquitin-related protein Rub1p affects function of the SCF Cdc4 complex

Article Abstract:

A covalent attachment of one Rub1p molecule stably modifies the Cdc53p in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This belongs to the Cullin family of proteins. Two genes are necessary for Cdc53p conjugation from Rub1p. ENR2 encodes a protein like the amino-terminal part of the ubiquitin-activating enzyme. SKP1 has been established as necessary for ubiquitin-conjugation activities.
